How to Connect Ring with Alexa

It takes just a few minutes to connect Ring devices to your Amazon Echo. All you need is the Alexa app.

Ring and Amazon products like Echo Show are made for each other (quite literally). With a few steps, you can pair Ring cameras or your entire Ring home security system with your Amazon Alexa devices. (There are also several other Alexa-compatible home security systems other than Ring).

While any Echo devices, like the Echo dot, will work with your Ring gear, we think you’ll get the most out of using a Ring camera and an Echo Show.

Here are a few things you can do after connecting Ring and Amazon Alexa:

• Arm and disarm your Ring Alarm system with your voice
• Watch live footage from your Ring camera on your Echo Show
• Watch recorded footage, pause, fast forward, and rewind through clips
• Set Alexa to announce when someone presses your Ring Video Doorbell

These instructions aren’t limited to Ring doorbells. They apply to any Ring device or camera, including the Ring Stick Up Cam, Ring Spotlight Camera, and Ring Floodlight Cam. But in this example, we installed a Ring Video Doorbell and wanted to connect it to an Echo Show.

To get started, you’ll need your Ring camera, an Echo device, and the Alexa app ready to go.

1. Open the Alexa app.
2. Tap the three lines in the app to open a menu and select More.
3. In that menu, select Skills & Games.

4. Find the Ring skill through the main menu or search box.
5. Once you find the Ring skill, tap Enable to Use.

6. This will take you to a new screen where you can link your Ring and Alexa accounts. Scroll down and select Enable Skill and Link Accounts.

7. From there, you’ll sign into your Ring account through the Alexa app. If you have two-factor authentication activated, you’ll also have to type in a PIN sent to your phone.
8. Once that’s done, select Authorize.

9. And you’re done!

You can use commands like “Show the front door,” or hide the feed by saying, “Go Home” or “Stop” while watching live feed.

You can also watch recorded activity from your Ring camera on your Echo Show with commands like “Show the last activity from.” Then, say the name of your camera. You can fast forward, rewind, pause, and play recorded clips.
