Best Home Security Cameras Available on Amazon

The Wyze Cam V2 (about $26) is a great little cube and arguably the most popular wireless camera on Amazon. Its slick mobile app, free cloud storage, 1080p video quality, and smart home compatibility are surprising for such an affordable security camera.

While the free 14-day cloud storage doesn't capture full-length videos, you can easily add a microSD card or sign up for Wyze's super cheap cloud storage to bypass that limitation. Wyze Cam V2 isn't the cheapest security camera you can buy, but it's probably the best one under $30.

It might seem odd to list two Wyze cameras in a row, but the Wyze Cam Pan (about $38) ups the ante with pan-and-tilt motors. These allow you to move the camera remotely with your smartphone, which is especially helpful for large rooms where you'd typically need multiple cameras to cover every angle.

Still, its pan-tilt motors make it a little more difficult to mount on a wall than the original Wyze Cam—and you need to buy a separate mounting bracket to do so. We think the Wyze Cam Pan is a versatile option for most folks, especially if you need an impromptu baby monitor.

Our next pick, the Amiccom Z7 (about $40), has an outward-facing perspective as a budget outdoor camera. This surveillance camera comes with infrared night vision that captures details in the dark as far away as 32 feet. The camera's built-in Wi-Fi makes it easy to access a live view through your smartphone.

The camera requires a power cord, so you can't place it anywhere like more expensive battery-powered options. Still, we like its weatherproofing, which allows you to record even when the weather won't cooperate.

The Ring Indoor Cam (about $60) is the cheapest Ring camera available, which is surprising considering the brand's reputation for quality mid-priced products. It's not as affordable as budget brands like Wyze and Yi, but it has some of the best cloud storage you can find on a home security camera.

You pay $3 a month for Ring's storage plan, which includes 60 days of recordings and quick snapshots your camera takes during the day. Ring's pricier plan is an even better deal since it includes extended warranty coverage and professional security monitoring for Ring's security system.

When one camera isn't enough to cover everything in your home, go for a four-pack of the Yi Home Camera (about $89). This is a great way to maximize your home security without overspending, and you can view up to nine IP camera feeds simultaneously.

Although the Yi Home Camera is cheaper than Wyze Cam, it doesn't include as much cloud storage, so you probably want to buy microSD cards to record longer videos without paying for a monthly subscription. In any case, Yi is a solid choice if you're buying security cameras in bulk.

The Blink Outdoor (about $100) has a remarkable two-year battery life—much longer than other battery-powered security cameras. It achieves this by using motion detection to record video. It also uses a separate sync module to handle power-intensive functions like Wi-Fi.

But the battery life can drop off sharply if you use two-way voice or live viewing too often, so this outdoor camera is best for passively monitoring your yard rather than watching your dog. Blink has a small cloud subscription, but you can plug a USB flash drive into the sync module to store recordings locally.

The second-generation Ring Video Doorbell (about $100) is a dedicated security camera for your porch. It's great for immediately knowing when your latest Amazon delivery lands on your doorstep. You can also shoot the breeze with guests through the doorbell camera when you're not around.

A rechargeable battery allows for flexible installation, but the Ring Video Doorbell works best with continuous power through doorbell wiring. This budget doorbell doesn't have the advanced features of competitors like Nest and Arlo, but it's a solid starting point for a more secure home.

The Arlo Essential Spotlight (about $130) is one of the best outdoor cameras thanks to generous six-month battery life and tons of mounting flexibility. Unlike the more expensive Arlo Pro 3, this unit doesn't require a base station to connect to your Wi-Fi network.

Arlo is also compatible with various smart home platforms like Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and If This Then That (IFTTT). While Arlo's cloud storage costs about the same as Ring's, it offers only about half the storage capacity. This is a pricier brand than most security cameras but with higher product quality.

The ZOSI 1080P Security Camera System (about $160) comes with four 1080p outdoor cameras and a massive 1TB DVR so you can record continuous video without paying for cloud storage. You can even expand the multi-camera system up to eight cameras if you need more eyes on the house.

Installation requires more work than other cameras on our list since you need to string cables from the DVR to each of the cameras. After installing the cameras, you can use the ZOSI Smart mobile app to view live and recorded footage. Overall, ZOSI is a great choice for folks looking to store camera footage offline.

The Furbo Dog Camera (about $200) doesn't emphasize security as much as other cameras on our list, but it's a great way to check in on your pup while you're away. We love the bark detector that sends a notification whenever Fido barks, which is great for finding out what's happening at home.

You can even reward your dog with their favorite treats using the nifty treat dispenser. The camera requires a subscription for video recording, which costs around $7 a month. While this pet camera is mostly for dogs, it can work for other pets without needing to turn on bark detection.
